There’s all sorts of ways to gauge the pedigree of a player like Calvin Harris, the No. 2 overall pick in Thursday’s MLS SuperDraft presented by adidas.
The lanky attacker is a product of one of college soccer’s top talent laboratories, the Wake Forest program that’s churned out a long list of professionals like Ike Opara, Michael Parkhurst, Sam Cronin and Jack Harrison. Harris also played for the academy of New Zealand-based A-League club Wellington Phoenix prior to his Demon Deacons experience, where he might well have signed a first-team contract were it not for the Australian league’s tight roster limits on imported players.

All of this is spot on. It s down to four candidates, including Armas and Pineda. Unsure of the other two. Hendrickson said he was told last week he is no longer in the running. No imminent decision. Team has said all along a decision would come sometime in December. https://t.co/aiaHnrXlSM Steven Goff (@SoccerInsider) December 9, 2020
Despite what some Twitter personalities had said, Chris Armas is still in the hunt for the D.C. United coaching job, as is Gonzalo Pineda. Pineda looks great to my eye, so hopefully they can start talking to him immediately after MLS Cup.

In the original press release, Sporting KC indicated they had declined the option on Winston Reid’s contract. However, it’s more complicated than that. His “option” was an option to buy from the loan he was on via West Ham United from the English Premier League. Despite declining that option, SKC Head Coach and Sporting Director Peter Vermes indicated negotiations were ongoing.
