SINGAPORE - Every night, Sugunan Shanthi would wait for her son s call so that her worries about his contracting Covid-19 would be eased.
Nearing midnight on Monday (April 19), Sugunan Sudheeshmon s call to tell his mother that he was safe and had just got back to his dormitory in Tuas finally came.
That was the last time the construction worker spoke to his mother.
Sugunan, 50, was worried about losing her son to Covid-19 but in the end, it was a road accident that took his life.

SINGAPORE, April 23 A second migrant worker who was involved in Tuesday’s accident on the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE) has died from his injuries, the Migrant Workers’ Centre (MWC) said today.
The accident, which happened around 6am that morning near the Jalan Bahar exit, involved a stationary tipper truck and a lorry ferrying 17 workers in its cargo deck.

Singapore A second foreign worker has died in the collision between a lorry and a stationary tipper truck along the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE) on Tuesday (Apr 20). He was riding in the back of the lorry, the Migrant Workers’ Centre (MWC) announced on Friday (Apr 23).
The first casualty from the accident was a 33-year-old migrant worker from Bangladesh, Mr Tofazzal Hossain, who died on the day of the collision. He left behind a two-year-old son, widow, ailing mother, and other family members whom he supported financially.

The group is in touch with the worker’s mother, who also works in Singapore, to render assistance to the family.

SINGAPORE - A second migrant worker who was travelling in the back of a lorry that crashed into a stationary tipper truck on the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE) has died.
The man died of his injuries in hospital, said the Migrant Workers Centre (MWC) in a Facebook post on Friday morning (April 23). We are in contact with his mother, who is also working in Singapore, to extend our assistance and deepest condolences to her and the family, said MWC in the post.
One other worker has been moved out of the intensive care unit and is now in the high-dependency unit. Another three are still recovering in hospital, said MWC.
