A recent report from the Urban Indian Health Institute graded Michigan a C- for its collection and reporting of American Indian and Alaskan Native COVID-19 public health data.
The virus is having a disparate impact on Black, Indigenous, and people of color. In response, the Inter-Tribal Council of Michigan launched a social media campaign to encourage American Indian and Alaskan Native people to self-identify their race and tribe on all health forms.
