LUTZ â Officer Jesse Madsen considered everyone he met to be family.
He was born to a young mother who loved him but knew she couldnât care for him, so he went home from the hospital with an adoptive family. After a few weeks, the family decided his skin was too dark and he was given up again.

TAMPA, Fla. - During his nearly 17-year career with the Tampa Police Department, Master Police Officer Jesse Madsen received seven lifesaving awards for showing heroism and putting his own life on the line.
FOX 13 News has learned of another time Madsen jumped into action. This time, saving the life of a Hillsborough County sheriff’s deputy.
Peaceful protests back in May turned into mayhem and violence as hundreds of people descended onto University Square Mall. Hillsborough County Master Deputy William Scobie was part of the team that responded.
"No matter what kind of situation we were in, I knew we'd be OK because he was right there with me," Officer Michael Strom said of his partner of almost eight years, Jesse Madsen.
