The Crown says it will not appeal the verdict in the murder trial of the man found not criminally responsible for the deaths of four people in Fredericton in 2018.
Matthew Raymond shot and killed Donnie Robichaud, Bobbie Lee Wright and police constables Sara Burns and Robb Costello outside the apartment building where he lived.
He testified at trial he believed he was defending himself from demons at the time of the shooting. The crown had argued he had planned and was aware his actions were wrong – but say they will not appeal the verdict that found him not criminally responsible.

Tellier was arrested Sept. 30 when Central Saanich police and the Mobile Youth Services Team searched his Victoria home, said Central Saanich Sgt. Paul Brailey. Police said they seized computers and mobile devices and located child abuse images. Tellier was the commanding officer with the 676 Kittyhawk Royal Canadian Air Cadets in North Saanich and most recently the 89 Pacific Air Cadet Squadron in Victoria. There is no indication any current or former cadet was victimized, said Capt. Cheryl Major, public affairs officer of the Pacific Cadet Support Unit in Victoria. “We don’t have any reason to believe that any former or current cadets were involved in this matter,” she said.
VICTORIA A Greater Victoria cadet volunteer is charged with possessing child pornography after a police search allegedly uncovered images of child abuse. Michael Ryan Tellier was charged Monday with one count of possession of child pornography. Central Saanich Police and the Greater Victoria Mobile Youth Services Team carried out a search warrant in the Victoria area on Sept. 30. Tellier was released on several conditions, including that he not engage in volunteer activities or work that could put him in contact with anyone under the age of 18.
