so you know without the video showing a very very different sequence of events i m quite sure he would not have been charged. i think what s also interesting is and perhaps a result of all the protests and result of all this type of coverage this city needs to be commended, north charleston for acting so very quickly. we have to remember that this shooting occurred on april 4th. this officer was charged on april 7th with murder three days later, was also fired, his name was divulged this did not go to a grand jury. so this city is to be commended quite frankly for this swift action. i have never seen anything this quick involving a police shooting. so perhaps, you know everything that has happened with michael garner where there was a video, michael brown, there was no video, may now in a sense, those

mr. garner clearly offended a lot of us. i think if we re going to have a resolution of this, it s important not only to go to the police commissioner but to the south bronx and out to the legal defender units and they see something different. they see a lot of kids being aggressively approached by the police. i think there are also ways that new york has shown through community courts that you can make things better as a communi community. out to place called red hook which has done an extraordinary job of giving kids a choice. you re doing dope. you can get yourself cleaned up or go to jail for 30 days. a lot of kids would rather get cleaned up and they do a good job with it. we need to take a quick break. i would love for you to stay here. live pictures bottom right-hand corner of your screen as we wait to hear from the mayor of new york and the police commissioner. stay right here. you re watching cnn.
