The suspected dui driver in this case has spent time at a nearby bar. [ crying ] the heart wrenching sobs of family members, one of 2 People Killed in an accident were partially drowned out by the passing traffic. They come to light candles on the roadside memorial just off the shoulder of west capital expressway. The family says the 25yearold was hardworking, a doting mother of a 5yearold little girl. San jose police say shortly after midnight on Christmas Day, she was driving her white chevy malibu, west on capital expressway. Investigators say she veered across the median near schnell avenue and collided head on with a silver lexus. The more was killed, as well, as a 14yearold boy writing inside of the lexus. The boys parents suffered non lifethreatening wounds. We miss her, we knew it was a tragic accident. She knows no, and we are sorry for the other family. Because i thought i would only be gone for like an hour or two. Reporter she was gone more than 30 hours. I knew if i fell asleep that i would freeze. Reporter scared and without her cellphone the battery died she stayed awake under a tree. The instinct kicks in, you have to protect your family, you have to just keep moving forward. Reporter when the sun rose, she walked again, finding an empty ranger station. She broke a window with her elbow and waited inside. The first thing i said, officer, im so sorry i broke the window, dont arrest me. Reporter instead those rangers and rescuers gave karen food and water and evacuated her to a hospital.
