Clare TUI Chair Says More Engagement With Unions Needed On Exams

Clare FM 2nd February 2021 The Clare chair of the TUI says government must ensure it engages more with teachers’ unions this year before coming to a decision on how the Leaving Cert will proceed. The issue is set to be the focus of this morning’s cabinet meeting, though a full decision on the matter may not come until later this week. Teaching unions have said today they want a full traditional leaving cert, though calculated grades are believed to still be on the table for government. Clare Teachers Representative Fears Exam Students Could Lose Out On Practicals

Clare FM Text 086 1800 964 2nd February 2021 A Clare teachers representative fears some leaving cert students could be treated unfairly, if orals and practical aren’t held this year. Techers and students are still anxiously awaiting details on what form this year’s state exam will take. Cabinet have been meeting to day to discuss the matter, while the Department of Education is also meeting with stakeholders.
