Denver Broncos Way-Too-Early 53-Man Roster Projection - Sports Illustrated Mile High Huddle: Denver Broncos News, Analysis and More

May 11, 2021 The Denver Broncos have made a lot of roster improvements this offseason in the wake of a big change to the front office. George Paton stepped in as GM and his philosophy in building a 53-man roster for we in media is an exercise in guesswork.  That makes projecting the 53-man roster out of training camp even more difficult, especially sitting here in May. In light of that, I started with players I view as safe to make the final roster and there are about 40 guys that fall under that no duh designation.  Whittling down the last 13 or so players was where it got rather difficult. Holdovers from John Elway s front office era may not be as safe as they ve been in years past.

NFL Draft profile: Running back Michael Carter

Legs never stop churning Good vision between the tackles Excellent pass catcher out of the backfield Difficult to bring down from low angles The bad Does not have breakaway speed Situational type running back Why he fits I liked what I saw from Carter. He reminds me of a C.J. Anderson type of running back who could complement Gordon nicely in the run game. If the Broncos end up with a guy who is anywhere near Anderson good then they will be a really good shape for a couple of years at least. When you see how Carter’s vision helps him get through tight windows in the run game, you can see how well he’ll be able to use that ability in the NFL where things are always a fraction of a second to daylight.

Dispatch from Eastpoint: Requiem for an oyster and a way of life

Dispatch from Eastpoint: Requiem for an oyster and a way of life By Richard Bickel Guest Columnist (Editor’s note: this article originally appeared earlier this month in The Tallahassee Democrat) There is, perhaps, no town in America that so profoundly reveals the human toll from a loss of a fishery than Eastpoint. Perched on the edge of Apalachicola Bay, whose waters once provided 90 percent of Florida’s annual oyster harvest and 10 percent of the nation’s, tiny Eastpoint, population 2,000, is literally built on a foundation of oyster shells. Indeed, dig anywhere along the town wharf where fish houses have for over a century shucked and packed literally tons of the bivalves, shipping them to lands far and wide, and your shovel will hit nothing but oyster shells from five to 10 feet down.
