aware that atmospheric pressure like this has been known to send folks into labor. especially women who are nine months pregnant. so daniel, tell us what has gone on since we last heard you on the air, and how is everybody doing? everybody is doing fine, all right. i m driving through the neighborhood of the local area of southport where i live at. there are trees, i mean trees on top of trees on top of trees on top of trees that are just piled up in the roads. every power line within a three-block radius is down right now. power lines crossing the road. i m out driving around checking on some of the neighbors i know stayed. making sure everybody is all right. i m trying to move a couple of these smaller trees out of the way. i m cutting them and pulling them off to the side of the road so in case at some point somebody does need some kind of medical attention or something like that, they can there s a safe route out of here. but right now, it is catastrophic out here in
it happened. i can t tell what that really was. we don t know if it s a lot or more than a lot. they say it was a house torn to pieces. there s nothing to see that we can point at. i would say that looked like a tornado. fair to say, that s a possibility. there are tornadoes inside of hurricanes. there are, yes. that was the damage assessments will be done well after the storm. there s more damage like this from mexico beach area. that s the worst hit area. i was looking at it. they have a population of about 1,000 people that live in mexico beach. i don t know how many of those people remain behind or not. i assume a few did. hopefully we ll hear from them and their survival stories. do we know where it was taken from? we know it was in mexico city
panama city. panama city beach. where this monster of a storm is going to make landfall pretty soon. the hardest hit areas, panama city beach, port st. joe, in the right-hand quadrant of the storm and stand to be the hardest hit. when we were out there, we had to come back in here for safety because it s a strongest gust of wind i experienced and i ve already covered my share of storm with both of you guys. it is amazing just how fast the moving the storm this is. unprecedented storm. especially for the panhandle. as you were discussing, a lot of people here not expecting this from sunday into monday and yesterday. it just really came out of nowhere from many of the folks here who barely managed to board up the businesses. when you start driving around, mexico beach area, going north to panama city beach and start to see a lot of beach shacks,
pictures of mexico beach. that looked like a tornado. the ugliest area, unfortunately, for those people and those residents. probably won t be much better in port saint joe. panama city will be a mix. that s where we ve got kerry sanders and lester holt. that was rough. i ve seen pictures of roofs that were peeled off and some structures were fine. so it s not complete devastation in panama city and panama city beach. we know that. you can see the three-hour loop of the eye coming on shore and you can see how it went right through what we call the right front quadrant of the storm there in the mexico beach area. these small towns here, they re in it right now, still getting the strongest winds of the storm. we saw how the bright red, we just watched panama city where lester was in his hotel room, they were in that part. now that is translating further north. i want to go to south port,
