Seven suspects were arrested Tuesday by Santa Barbara County sheriff s deputies in connection with a string of reported theft-related crimes in Carpinteria, Santa Barbara and Goleta.
At 6:30 a.m., deputies responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the area of La Mesa Plaza and Santa Rosa Lane in Carpinteria, according to sheriff s spokeswoman Raquel Zick.
When sheriff s deputies arrived at the scene, they contacted Jason Orth, 23, of Carpinteria “near the vehicle that was not registered to him,” Zick said. “Deputies in the Santa Barbara area checked with the registered owner in the 5300 block of Traci Drive and found that the vehicle had been stolen but not yet report(ed).”
