The School District of Beloit is providing access to COVID-19 vaccines and testing for students and staff.
The district announced Sunday that it will host a free vaccine clinic on June 2 as part of a partnership with Homecare Pharmacy.
Students ages 12 and up will be eligible with parent consent. The Pfizer vaccine is the only type that the FDA has authorized for children under 18.
Beloit will also start offering free PCR, nasal swab COVID-19 testing for students, employees and members of their household starting Monday.
The testing will be available twice a week at Beloit Memorial High School, Merrill Elementary School, and McNeel Intermediate School.
BELOIT â The Beloit School District has to âdig inâ to figure out how to better engage students who are learning from home, school board Vice President Megan Miller said.
A Beloit Daily News review of school district data shows that in some grades more than 40% of students learning at home are not engaged in their studies.
âThis is a continuous process of figuring out how to best serve kids and families throughout the pandemic. I feel confident we have good instructors and assistance, but data shows we have to ask some different questions to get different answers,â Miller said. âWe really need to dig into this.â
