assessment and referral and linkage to care. i would say in the previous eras, we haven t always had all of the tools available that are necessary to help new yorkers and people anywhere. susan, can you give us a sense of the kind of calls the team responds to and what kind of resources they offer? certainly. thank you for having us this evening. thank you for having us this evening. what i can tell you is for the first time we are responding to mental health 911 crisis calls instead of sending a police car and an ambulance, we are sending emts or maybe paramedics and a social worker trained to work in emergency circumstances to help people with mental health care needs. so for the first time in harlem, east harlem, parts of central harlem over a hundred people last night got a very different kind of mental health care response, centering health care to what was essentially a mental
