Jeremy England, who represents Mississippi’s 51st District.

‘You are not alone,’ Peer Support Specialist uses her own struggle to help others ‘You are not alone,’ Peer Support Specialist uses her own struggle to help others By Alison Spann | May 3, 2021 at 8:52 PM CDT - Updated May 3 at 9:02 PM BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) - Peer support specialist Melody Worsham has an important message she wants to share with coastal Mississippians. “Number one, you are not alone.” Worsham has had her own struggles with mental illness and understands how hard it can be to reach out for help. However, she says she wished she would have sought help sooner. “If I had had other people like me, like peer support available and that accepting group of people that I can talk to, I think it would have made a huge difference. Cause I see how fast people recover using the peer support we offer and how fast it’s happened since I’ve connected to peer support for myself,” Worsham said.

Fire does not deter motel owner trying to help the homeless Fire does not deter motel owner trying to help the homeless By John Fitzhugh | January 11, 2021 at 6:19 PM CST - Updated January 11 at 7:09 PM GULFPORT Miss. (WLOX) - No good deed goes unpunished. A Gulfport motel owner may be feeling that way on Monday after a fire was set in one of the rooms he rented to a homeless woman at a discount rate. “We try to give them a discount and we just try to help them out so they don’t have to stay in this cold weather like 40 degrees and they don’t want to get freeze up,” said Hitesh Bhalavat, owner of the Super 8 motel on Highway 49 in North Gulfport. “So we try to help them out, but look at what happened.”
