The deal also lacks meaningful enforcement mechanisms for issues that the EU claims to care about, such as climate change and human rights, including forced labor. China has repeatedly demonstrated its willingness to use its economic power as a strategic weapon. By deepening their economic reliance on China without coordinating their policy with fellow democracies European nations are increasing their vulnerability to pressure from Beijing. EU Ambassadors endorse Brexit trade deal

LMFM By Michael Carolan EU Ambassadors have unanimously approved the provisional application of the EU-UK trade deal. The move means the agreement, reached on Christmas Eve, will come into operation on New Year s Day, even though the European Parliament will not give its approval until February. Members of the British Parliament will vote on Wednesday. The government here will consider the deal at a cabinet meeting later today, a day ahead of schedule. Green Party MEP Grace O Sullivan says MEPs must be given enough time to scrutinise the trade agreement before voting on it:
