House and Senate Leaders reached an agreement yesterday on a deal that will likely be voted on next week, but today some senators were holding out for sweeteners. Chief Congressional Correspondent nancy cordes now on whats in the package, and the impact. Its not perfect, but it is damn good. Reporter republicans say the hardest part is behind them, now that theyve crafted a compromise between the house and senate tax bills. The final plan preserves deductions for Student Loans and medical expenses, which were targeted in previous bills; and it doubles the standard deduction, which republicans say will enable millions of taxpayers to stop itemizing. This relief gives people a simpler system and a fairer tax code. Reporter but residents of hightax states could still get squeezed. Retired general Michael Flynn pleaded guilty today to lying to the f. B. I. And agreed to cooperate with Robert Mueller. Mueller is investigating russian interference in the u. S. Election, whether anyone in the Trump Campaign was involved, and any other crimes he may find along the way, including obstruction of justice. Flynn, the president s First National security adviser, was an adviser to the campaign. He could serve as a guide as investigators look into the trump teams contacts with russia before and after the election. Jeff pegues begins our coverage. Yesterday, traffic at Los Angeles International airport was bumper to bumper. Today, things were moving a little better. Cross the coast at newark ioternational airport in new jersey, there was a controlled chaos. I figured everybody would be in for the holidays, but i guess this is a huge travel day. We left a lot more time to travel because we thought it would take a long time to get here, and we were told to get here earlier than normal.

For the week, the blue chip index is off more than 4 . Even with the losses, the dow is still ahead 3. 25 for the year. Thats how good 2018 has been so far. So what rattled the markets today . Were going to begin with a concerning new report from the centers for disease control. It said infections from mosquitoes, ticks, and fleas have more than tripled in recent years. They announced this today. And at least nine new diseases have been reported for the first time in the u. S. And dr. Jon lapook is following it. Reporter the 16 diseases tracked by the c. D. C. Include wellknown illnesses like lyme and zika, which have seen a dramatic rise since 2004. This deer tick, found especially in the northeast, spreads lyme disease, which accounts for more than 63 of the illnesses tracked. Lyme disease cases have doubled to about 36,000 a year, and the bed.
