The following is a release from UNA:
KENNESAW, Ga., – Kennesaw State held off a North Alabama rally in the opener, then picked up a mercy-rule victory in the second game to advance in the opening round of the 2021 ASUN Conference Softball Tournament. The two wins send the Owls to the ASUN semi-final round next weekend while UNA ends its season with a 19-19 record.
In the opener, KSU plated single runs in the bottom of the second and third innings and took a 2-0 lead into the top of the sixth. The Lions had their best chance in the frame, loading the bases with one out.

Jaimie Hoover strode to home plate in the bottom of the sixth inning with the bases loaded, and a chance to win the game.
She poked the ball to shallow right field, and it careened off Kennesaw State right fielder Raleigh Williams glove. Baylee Goodard scored, and the ballgame ended.
Hoover’s walk-off may not have been pretty, but it capped off a dominant Gators offensive performance as they mercy-ruled Kennesaw State 10-2 Wednesday evening at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium.
Avery Goelz(3-for-3) all turned in multi-hit games in the decisive victory.
The Gators’ (15-1) offense pounded out 10 hits in tonight’s contest against the Owls (6-10) and were led by Echols’ career-high two home run, five RBI performance. It’s the third time in her career that she has hit two home runs in a game and it’s only the second time she has notched five RBI.
Florida leaped onto the scoreboard in the 1
stinning of play for the seventh time this season as
Hannah Adams on single to left field to give UF a 1-0 lead. Adams drew a one-out hit-by-pitch and moved into scoring position on a groundout to second by Echols.
Scoring in Bunches
The Gator bats were alive and well following an uncharacteristic loss to 16th ranked Florida State Saturday in which they only scored two runs. Echols led the charge in this game as for the third time in her career she homered twice in the same game. The last time she did so was when the Gators topped Longwood 9-0 in 2020.

Echols said she was happy about the rare feat and thinks the Gator squad can be really special.
Echols wasn’t alone in swinging a hot bat Wednesday night, though.
Cheyenne Lindsey led off for the first time all season, but she continued to produce all the same. The senior outfielder kept her hot streak going with two more hits, one of which was a triple, and an RBI. Florida head coach Tim Walton said he’s tinkering with the lineup to make his team more dynamic.
The sixth-ranked Gators softball team looks to rebound tonight after losing for the first time of the season against the Florida State Seminoles on Saturday. The team will welcome the 6-9 Kennesaw State Owls to Katie Seashore Pressley stadium for a mid-week matchup at 6 pm.

Gators pitching looking to bounce back
The Seminoles offense was able to get to Gator pitching early in the Gators matchup Saturday. Allowing five runs in the second inning, the Gators dug themselves in a deep hole. Although the Gators were able to get two runs back in the top of the fourth inning, FSU answered in the bottom of the fifth, ultimately handing the Gators their first loss of the season.
