RAWALPINDI: Polling for the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) elections concluded in the twin cities on Sunday, with verbal clashes between PML-N and PTI workers reported in some polling stations.
In the AJK Legislative Assembly, three Valley and Jammu constituencies fall in the twin cities and Rawalpindi Division and six in different districts of the province, including Lahore.
Despite the hot weather, polling started on time and ended at 5pm. Voters remained active in PML-N, PPP and PTI camps in different areas especially in the city and cantonment areas. Strict security measures had been adopted for smooth polling in the garrison city.
Proscribing TLP purely Pakistan’s internal decision: Fawad
Federal Minister Chaudhry Fawad Hussain has said proscribing Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan was purely an internal decision of Pakistan.
Talking to the media persons in Rawalpindi on Saturday, he outrightly rejected any foreign pressure on the matter.
He said the government handled the protests of the TLP in the best possible manner and the situation stands normalized now across the country.
Regretting the language recently used by PML (N) leader Rana Sanaullah, the Information Minister said nobody can be allowed to threaten the institutions and officers.
He said it has been decided to register a case against Rana Sanaullah.
