Brandon and Mahreen Short and family are honoring their late daughter, Karli Short, through the Karli Short Better Tomorrow Foundation. The foundation will provide financial assistance through a scholarship for Penn State Greater Allegheny undergraduates grappling with the fallout of gun violence, and the Shorts are inviting other donors to support the fund.
Brandon Short knows first-hand the pain of losing a loved one to gun violence. The McKeesport native and former NFL player’s 26-year-old daughter Karli was shot and killed last September in the Christy Park section of McKeesport. She had been shot in the head and was dead at the scene.
Megan Nagel, associate chief academic officer and associate professor of chemistry at Penn State Greater Allegheny, has been named the campus’ interim chancellor and chief academic officer through June 30, 2023. She succeeds Chancellor and Chief Academic Officer Jacqueline Edmondson, who recently announced her departure to become the president of the University of Southern Maine.
