Racing regattas have commenced 1st April 2021
Racing regattas have commenced again and so has the action. Over the weekend, the 27th and 28th March, there were a series of a total of eight races. The Forrestier Walker CC, Gibraltar International Bank CC and Wessex CC were uncontested races giving Calpe Rowing Club a head start for the weekend’s available points. However Mediterranean Rowing Club took the lead overall this weekend by winning the other five races.
The Veterans race, Gibraltar International Bank CC, was the only race this weekend that was rowed in a coxless four, as opposed to the rest of the races which were rowed in a Yola. This is the first time a Veteran race has been rowed in a four locally.
Calpe crew complete successful weekend 10th December 2020
The Gibraltar Amateur Rowing Association held the 5km Sacarello C.C last weekend with Calpe Rowing club leading the way with three of the top four finishing times going to their crews.
Calpe’s crew finished with the top finish, the second best time and fourth with Mediterranean Rowing club crew finishing with the third best time from the eight competing crews.
The top finisher were Calpe’s second crew the J18s with Santos, Rovengo, Sacarello, Zammitt and Ody. They were closely followed by Calpe’s fourth crew the Seniors made up from Wahnon, King, Prior, Lucius and Walker.
