Mitzi is a shy, if not anxious cat. The 14-year-old tabby can be found hiding behind Cathy Bacan s dresser from her other two cats, who Bacan adopted after her mother died early this summer.
Like the two felines, Bacan inherited Mitzi and a dog from her uncle who died on June 11.
But the latest round of pets showed troubling signs of abuse. This abuse makes it hard for Mitzi to live with her mother s two cats, Bacan said. They don t trust anyone, she said. The dog was really abused by my uncle; he would hit him with fly swatters, paper, shoes and anything in hand.

WOOSTER Starting Tuesday, the speed limit on portions of Milltown Road and Sylvan Road was reduced to 45 mph.
The speed limits on Milltown Road between Oak Hill and Mechanicsburg Road on the north side of Wooster, and Sylvan Road between Hillcrest and Sylvan’s dead-end on the east side of Wooster changed to 45 mph. The speed limit had been 55 mph.
The changes are a result of a study conducted by the Wayne County Engineer’s Office.
“The study examined several factors, including road width, hills and curves, average daily traffic count, accident history, as well the number of houses and businesses along the road,” said Traffic Safety Supervisor Brock Yoder of the Engineer’s Office. “The State of Ohio has minimum guidelines that dictate the permitted speed along all sections of roadway on the township, county, and state routes.”
