BEARDEN John Shearer, Shopper News Whether buzzing down Sutherland Avenue in an automobile or studying it from the side of the road or through a computer map, one can quickly deduce it is eclectic. In fact, the local business association has called it the most eclectic street in Knoxville. And for this linear community just west of downtown, that is a compliment highlighting its unique restaurants, the diverse locally owned small businesses, the variety of residences and other offerings.

Murfreesboro Housing Authority to Redevelop Parkside and Mercury Court

The complexes up for renovation are Parkside and Mercury Court. Phase One will replace 46 homes on the Parkside and Mercury Court properties. Phase Two will add 100 new homes to the latter property, according to the project’s planners. The MHA’s redevelopment proposal will closely resemble a previous plan the design team has used to update the units in Oakland Courts on North Maple Street. These plans were put into action in the spring of 2019, and redevelopment is still in progress. McCarty Holsaple McCarty, a Knoxville-based architecture firm, is one of the design teams set to take on the project. The team has committed to the updates being made for Oakland Courts as well.

MHA Master Plan Presented Virtually This Wednesday and Thursday

(MURFREESBORO)  Murfreesboro Housing Authority’s (MHA) Mercury Park Master Plan to be presented to the Murfreesboro community this coming Wednesday and Thursday (2/24-25/2021).  CDC guidelines prohibit large gatherings, so all viewings will be via ZOOM meetings or on FaceBook (see below).
