A school where a pupil recently committed suicide after being beaten and bullied by a fellow pupil has been caught up in another scandal, after allegations that a teacher dated a matric pupil in 2019.
The Limpopo provincial education department has also confirmed to Sunday Times Daily that Nyambeni Lidzhade, the principal of Mbilwi Secondary School in Limpopo, where the bullying occurred, is being investigated for inflicting corporal punishment on a pupil.

JOHANNESBURG - The portfolio committee on basic education in South Africaâs parliament will this week begin an oversight mission to the government department overseeing the sector to discuss challenges including school bullying and infrastructure shortcomings.
In a statement on Monday, the committee said the week-long oversight tour beginning on Tuesday was aimed at finding lasting solutions to the challenges as well as ensuring accountability from the department of basic education (DBE).
âAmong the issues to be discussed during the oversight visit include the perennial infrastructure challenges facing the sector, the unacceptable increase in incidents of bullying in the basic education sector, school governing body elections as well as an update on the status of the Basic Education Laws Amendment Bill,â it said.

JOHANNESBURG - A 14-year-old schoolgirl accused of assaulting Lufuno Mavhunga has been granted R1,500 bail by the Thohoyandou Magistrates Court on Thursday.
The teenager from Mbilwi Secondary School in Limpopo appeared in the children s court for a formal bail application.
The pupil was arrested after a video went viral on social media earlier this month, where she is seen repeatedly slapping Mavhunga, who took her own life days later.
