Dublin City Council and the North East Inner City Initiative today, Friday 28th May, launched the NEIC Intercultural Ambassadors Programme, which seeks to highlight cultural integration and celebrate diversity in this part of Dublin City. The first project of this kind in Ireland, the Intercultural Ambassadors Programme was launched today by Lord Mayor Hazel Chu, with anyone living or significantly engaged in the North East Inner City area welcomed to apply.
The North Inner City is one of the most culturally and linguistically diverse places in the country as well as being a hub for business, education, religious and leisure activities that attract migrants on a daily basis.

Dublin City Council has waived all street furniture fees until the end of 2022.
A brochure has also been published today, outlining guidelines for outdoor dining and rules for businesses use of public spaces.
The Street Furniture Guidelines brochure also details how businesses can apply for the Temporary Covid Street Furniture Permit.
Lord Mayor Hazel Chu says the waiver is the latest initiative to support Dublin businesses to get back on their feet. We are very conscious of the financial pressure hospitality businesses across the City are under during these very difficult times, she said.
DCC are also encouraging tourism and hospitality businesses to apply for funding for outdoor tables and chairs.

Up to 30 people protested outside the Mansion House in Dublin last night, and one person was arrested.
Lord Mayor Hazel Chu says a peaceful event was taking place, which is organised at the house annually by the Irish Republican Brotherhood.
Four people were due to gather outside.
However, Hazel Chu says a far-right group hijacked the event, and the IRB event had to be moved to Stephen s Green as a result.
A woman was arrested for persistently breaching public health guidelines.
The Lord Mayor of Dublin says abusive comments were shouted at her by some of those demonstrating.
Ms Chebli was nominated for the award by her colleague Ciaran Murray.
“For the past three months, Naima has given up her lunch-time while she’s in work to perform Karaoke sessions for patients,” Mr Murray said.
“Clients who typically refuse to join in groups or eat in the dining rooms have been coming to these sessions.
“She lifts everyone’s spirits and has single-handedly changed the culture.”
Ms Chebli received a sculpture and a gift voucher worth €1,000.
“I’m on top of the world to get this award,” she said.
“This year has been so challenging for everyone, but it’s really ending on a high.
