Maui County Council Member Yuki Lei Sugimura will hold two talk story sessions Upcountry this week. The first session takes place tonight (Feb. 6) at the Kula Elementary School cafeteria from 6 to 7 p.m. Sugimura will also hold her monthly Talk Story with Yuki Lei outreach program, Feb. 10, at the Upcountry Farmers Market from 7 to 11 a.m.
At the end of a nearly four-mile walk, community organizer Archie Kalepa addressed a crowd gathered at Launiupoko saying, “The depth of our grief and the warmth of our aloha is overwhelming. Today marks a different kind of point in the history of this place.”
Elected officials and community leaders joined together on Saturday, Sept. 30, at Puʻuhonua o Nēnē, a temporary shelter, to bless the newly established facility for Maui Wildfire survivors who were homeless pre-disaster.
