A broad coalition of New Hampshire faith and community leaders is calling on state lawmakers to create a budget which serves the people. The New Hampshire Peoples Budget Coalition said Gov. Chris Sununu s proposed two-year and nearly $15 billion budget does not address the needs of those struggling to get by on minimum wage, find housing or pay off student debt. .
The new year begins with the prospect of big changes to the Montana state Constitution that have been drafted by GOP lawmakers and opposed by conservation groups and others. The Republican-controlled Legislature has already introduced almost four dozen measures to change the document, which dates to the early 1970s. It s the first GOP super-majority in a half-century, and seems determined to change what has long been considered a "progressive" document that protects the state s natural resources. .
Groups promoting Latino political participation are keen to get rid of the stereotype of Latino voters as a "sleeping giant," especially in light of the 2022 elections. In the midterms, Latino voters in Nevada reelected the country s first Latina U.S. Senator, thus helping Democrats keep control of the upper chamber. .
