The Town of Bethany Beach recently announced winners for the 2021 photo contest. Out of 430 entries from amateur and professional photographers, 53 images were selected as semi-finalists, 18 of which will make it into the Townâs 2022 calendar.
âWeâve been running this annual contest since 2013,â said Julie Malewski, events director for Bethany Beach. âWe wanted to change it up this year, so we asked our social media followers to weigh in on the results.â Using the hashtag #BethanyBeachPhotoContest2021, the 18 photo finalists were posted on Instagram, prompting followers to âlikeâ their favorites. The top three photos with the most likes were then posted on Facebook for a cross-section of votes. The average of those votes, along with staff input, determined the winner.

Within the past three decades, Miami Beach has become synonymous with a vibrant party scene where the clubs don’t close until the sun comes up. But Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber and city commissioners want to change that identity. They’ve proposed a series of new ordinances to slow down the iconic nightlife.

The cities of Tama and Toledo have both been chosen to participate in this year’s Iowa’s Living Roadways Community Visioning Program.
Iowa State University is conducting a survey to learn residents’ opinions on how to improve the local landscape through transportation enhancements. The goal of the project is to develop a landscape plan that will graphically illustrate the vision of the community.
Input from residents is an important part of this process and ideas about community design and enhancement are valuable to the Toledo visioning committee.
Survey packets will be mailed to randomly selected residents in both Tama and Toledo in the coming days. If you receive a packet, kindly take a moment to complete the questionnaire and mail it back using the enclosed postage-paid envelope. The questionnaire will take approximately 25 minutes to complete.
