Galesburg faces soggy season but still below record rain

Galesburg faces soggy season but still below record rain GALESBURG While rainfall is far from hitting records, Knox County and Galesburg have been having a soggy summer.  As of July 10, Galesburg nearly reached its monthly average for rainfall of 3.67 inches, having received 3.31 inches of rain.  This is still well below the record high for the month of 8.19 inches which was achieved in 2016, and well above the lowest precipitation total of 0.85 inches, which was reached in 2012.  June was also wetter than usual, with Galesburg receiving 5.7 inches, again above the average of 4.89 inches. However, it is still below the maximum recorded, which was 13.24 inches in 2010.

Galesburg Council hears renewed calls for Lindsay Hillery to resign

Hillery was not present for the meeting. This is Hillery s third arrest of the year and her second pending felony.  This prompted Knox County Board member Pam Davidson, who lives in the Ward 3 council member’s district, to call for her resignation during the public comment section of the meeting. “I know you might have spoken to her to (tell her to) step down, but if you haven’t, I’m publicly asking as someone who lives in that ward. She needs to step down,” Davidson said. Davidson said if Hillery does not step down, she will start a petition.
