Union R-XI Board Opposes November Election Move

Union R-XI To Continue COVID-19 Leave Policy

The Union R-XI School District isn’t waiting for the federal government to extend coronavirus-related paid leave for employees. The board of education approved a resolution Wednesday, Dec. 16, allowing employees to have up to 10 days of paid leave through June 30, 2021. Unless Congress takes action, federal assistance through the Families First Coronavirus Response Act will expire Dec. 31. “Part of us trying to develop this plan is waiting to see what the federal government will do,” said Dr. Justin Tarte, the district’s executive director of human resources. “At this point in time, we don’t anticipate that it’s going to be extended. Having said that, we want to be able to have something for our team members to be able to support them.”
