The Commonwealth Cyber Initiative has funded $1 million in experiential learning projects for students across Virginia to help build the state’s vital cybersecurity workforce.
The seven projects include researchers from George Mason University, Longwood University, Marymount University, Old Dominion University, Radford University, University of Virginia, Virginia Tech, and William & Mary.
“By building experiential learning programs in central, coastal, southwestern and northern Virginia, CCI is giving students the hands-on experiences they need to enjoy successful careers in cybersecurity,” said Lui

Dear Colleagues,
I write to share the news that Richard George “Dick” Flood, Professor of Business, Emeritus, passed away peacefully at home in Indiana on March 11, 2021. He is survived by his brother, David Flood of Hammond, Indiana, and was preceded in passing by his wife, Lynn (nee Catha), and his parents, George and Lois Flood.
Dick was a 1965 graduate of Gavit High School in Hammond, IN. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he proudly served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps and was stationed in Southeast Asia in support of the Vietnam War. He received his undergraduate degree from Indiana University and his Ph.D. from the University of Florida.
