Many of Missouri’s bees, such as the leafcutter bee (pictured), rely on native flowers and plants for sustenance. MDC encourages the public to “bee-friend” native pollinators by planting native plants this season.
Honeybees are well known for their ability to produce honey. However, these bees, both cultivated and in the wild, have declined because of colony collapse disorder in recent years.
