OAK BLUFFS A crowd of well-known faces will be on the island this week for the Martha s Vineyard African American Film Festival. Academy Award winners Regina King and Spike Lee, California Congresswoman Barbara Lee, the daughters of Malcolm X and Muhammed Ali, musician/director Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson, and Kenya Barris, creator of the TV show “Black-ish” are among the celebrities turning out for the film festival.
The 19th annual event will continue producer Run & Shoot Filmworks’ mission “of providing a positive environment where African American filmmakers can share their thoughts, ideas and aspirations” while also showcasing “the best in African and African American cinema.”
