Tax Revenue Drops From Decrease In Local Sales: Mayor

Reply Written by Mayor Mary Marvin: Internet sales in the past five years were increasing at a double-digit pace and with the onset of Covid, the numbers went up 44 percent in 2020 to $861 billion in sales. This was at the same time that 21 major brick and mortar retail businesses including J.Crew, JCPenney, Neiman Marcus and Lord and Taylor declared bankruptcy. As a consequence, states, and then through the obvious trickle-down, small local governments saw revenues drop precipitously due to the decrease in local sales tax generation. Without the taxation of internet business, many small communities would be struggling far more than they are today.

County Executive George Latimer Gives Covid-19 Briefing

Vaccine statistics are as follows:        Vaccination numbers through yesterday, March 10:        County Center: 99,715   100,000 vaccinations at the County Center – as of this AM        The County is administering well over 2,500 shots per day, going up to 3,000 shots per day soon due to increase in supply        Westchester County Clinics: 20,279        Yonkers Armory Site: 8,482        Total: 128,476 vaccine doses administered        As of 3/7, 24% of Westchester County residents 18 years of age or older have received one dose of the vaccination.
