The Marshall City Council was asked to approve a resolution to execute a contract that was approved by the Marshall Municipal Utilities’ Board of Public Works.
At the council meeting on Monday, May 17, MMU General Manager Jeff Bergstrom explained it is a contract with Ahrens Contracting, Inc., for work needed where the power plant is being demolished.
The Marshall Municipal Utilities’ Board of Public Works is scheduled to meet on Thursday, May 13.
According to the agenda, there are several action items to be discussed, including one regarding the current demolition of the power plant.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. in the conference room at the MMU Service Center at 1459 West Arrow Street.

The Marshall City Council approved the second reading to execute an Intergovernmental Loan Agreement with the Marshall Municipal Utilities’ Board of Public Works during its meeting on Monday, May 3.
Mayor Julie Schwetz said it doesn’t look like the city is going to get money from a grant to help pay for the demolition project.
With the approval of the loan agreement- the money from which the city will use to pay for the demolition of the dilapidated buildings on the campus formerly known as the Marshall Habilitation Center- and later in the meeting, the council was asked to approve an ordinance to execute an agreement between the city and Remco Demolition LLC for the work to be done.
