The National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC) has backed charity Electrical Safety First’s (ESF) Safety Bill which seeks to improve the safety standards of e-bike and e-scooter batteries.
At the moment, lithium-ion batteries used in e-bikes and e-scooters can go on sale with only the manufacturer s declaration that they meet safety standards - but there are calls for them to face the same scrutiny as fireworks and heavy machinery.
