The six week audit was conducted after a panel blew off an Alaska Airlines 737 max jet on january fifth. This also comes after the New York Times reported that the plane involved in that case was scheduled to undergo maintenance the very next day. Ktvu tom vacar has the story. The federal Aviation Administration says boeing failed 33 of 89 audits of its manufacturing and Quality Control processes. Its doorc plg supplier for the device that blew out on january 5th failed seven of 13 audits. Well, thats a very high failure rate, International Aviation attorney mary schiavo is the former turn oversees boeing and the airline industry. They also have to see that boeing is doing all of the assembly precise. So, you know, steps and procedures that are approved, plug was installed is missing or never exist
This is cbs news bay area with elizabeth cook. Breaking news. An airplane emergency. A tire falls off a plane during takeout at sfo. The damage and questions about how this happened. Thank you so much for joining us this afternoon. A whole lot of questions after part of the landing gear fell off a plane as it was leaving sfo. Lets get right to anne makovec with this breaking news. That United Airlines flight lost in the tire during takeoff at sfo. This video of the takeoff, you can see that tire will fall off right there. We are also hearing some air Traffic Control audio we believe may be from other pilots communicating about this emergency. There is a tire going down the runway. That 777 that just took off lost the tire. Thank you. We had to close the runway because somebody lost a tire. It did not stop on the runway. The tire debris landed in an airport employee parking lot. From our chopper, we could see police cars and crime tape around it. An sfo spokesperson says nobody was hurt
We have a few clouds but its not raining. We wont see any rain today or tomorrow. Our temperatures are about normal for the start of the day with a blanket of clouds overhead that will eventually start to clear out. In concord, we are seeing temperatures going from 50 degrees at 9 00, to 1 00, 60 degrees, and then stopping in the low 60s. Temperatures wont rise much more from there. What we see around lunch, we are going to be dry and sunny and our temperatures will start to come up a few degrees for tomorrow. Headed for the mid to upper 60s. I think tomorrow is our better day to get outside. It will sure be nice to get that sunshine. Mike, it seems like it has been a nice commute to start the day. Yeah, not a lot of sunshine right now but a lot of headlights moving smoothly on the span into San Francisco because they are being metered on the bridge. No more bottlenecking at the incline. They gathered about 3 to 4 photos of him and they say hes being accused of exposing himself to people outside of Shopping Centers in both in iraq. Reporter off a plane that lands here. What the [ bleep ]. Excuse me. I mean i was so lucky because just two cars away. Im almost the one. Reporter that is william, a very lucky sfo worker parked two cars away from the vehicle that was crushed by the tire. Now lets talk about the path of the wheel. If you look closer at the car that was hit, you can sort of see the smudge of rubber there. If you back up a little bit, you can actually see what looks like the curvature of the tire on the side of the car. From there you look behind the car at the krail and what appears to be a big smudge from the tire before the wheel went crashing through the fence on its way to the next parking lot and we can show you where the tire landed. This parking lot is actually where the hertz rental cars are staged before they are cleaned
