The NextCare urgent care clinic in Nogales, one of a limited number of locations in Santa Cruz County that offers COVID-19 testing, temporarily closed its doors this week.
A spokesman for Mesa-based NextCare said in an email Wednesday that âour Nogales clinic is closed since our provider is out,â clarifying in a follow-up message that âproviderâ means the health care professional who attends to patients.
âWe hope to reopen as soon as possible, but a decision has not been made yet as to if we will open tomorrow, Dec. 24,â spokesman Christopher Whitcomb wrote, adding that the company apologized for any inconvenience caused by the closure.

A local medical office officially changed hands late last month, as Mariposa Community Health Center took over operations at the former Carondelet Medical Group on Target Range Road, completing a deal that was first announced in August.
MCHC CEO Ed Sicurello said people who see physicians and specialists at the health center can expect the same kind of care theyâre used to. âIn terms of the patient, we havenât changed anything within the clinic in terms of how we work with patients, so the patient experience should be the same,â he said.
