New Orleans funk powerhouse
Dumpstaphunk has just unleashed a rendition of Buddy Miles’s 1973 acid-fueled blues anthem “United Nations Stomp, the third single from ‘Where Do We Go From Here,’ their first full-length album in seven years. Ignited by the exploding lead guitar of special guest Marcus King, the epic jam invokes the vintage spirit of Jimi Hendrix and Cream coupled with a touch of urgent musical angst that could be easily playlist alongside modern contemporaries Rage Against The Machine or Red Hot Chili Peppers. The track, mixed by Beastie Boys producer, Mario Caldato Jr., also features guitar legend Waddy Wachtel (Keith Richards, Rolling Stones, Stevie Nicks) in a crescendoing super-jam that further cements Dumpstaphunk’s status as the heaviest funk-rock band in the land, as they gear up to release what is undeniably the most powerful and politically pointed album of their career. Ghost of Vroom – the new band comprised of veteran singer-songwriter
Mike Doughty (Soul Coughing) and his longtime collaborator, bassist Andrew “Scrap” Livingston – have announced the release of their eagerly anticipated debut album. GHOST OF VROOM 1 arrives via Mod y Vi Records on Friday, March 19.
GHOST OF VROOM 1 is heralded by today’s premiere of the album’s first single, “I Hear the Ax Swinging,” available now at all DSPs and streaming services. Fans who pre-order GHOST OF VROOM 1 will receive a download of “I Hear The Ax Swinging.” An official companion video – directed by renowned humorist/cartoonist David Rees – is currently in post-production and will premiere later this month.

Soul Coughing’s Mike Doughty and collaborator/bassist Andrew “Scrap” Livingston have shared “I Hear the Ax Swinging,” the first single from their upcoming Ghost of Vroom album,
Ghost of Vroom 1. It’s out through Mod y Vi Records on March 19.
The video, directed by humorist/cartoonist David Rees, will debut later this month.

The aural journey of “Sound of Metal” resonates, leaving you with the unnerving feeling of what it’s like to lose your hearing. However, the allegory, co-written by bothers Darius and Abraham Marder, is less about loss and more about acceptance.
Riz Ahmed plays Ruben, a drummer in a rock band alongside his singer-girlfriend, Lou (Olivia Cooke). During a soundcheck, he experiences a sudden ear pop that leaves him nearly deaf. It’s in this moment where the sound team, led by supervising sound editor Nicolas Becker, begins to guide the story with a purposeful, immersive soundscape.
