An N.C. House bill that would create "Civil Service" personnel appeals boards in Winston-Salem and Greensboro won approval on Wednesday and now moves to the state Senate
Republicans Jeff Zenger and Jon Hardister said House Bill 470 had been pulled back to the Rules Committee after it had advanced to the floor during a loud outcry of opposition by leaders in both cities. The bill would establish Civil Review Boards that could be arbiters for decisions involving police and first responders, including the potential to overturn decisions.
