The Belleville Downtown District BIA is looking to hire a new executive director – Marijo Cuerrier (who will be working as the executive director until June,) recently announced to the board that she has accepted a job with another BIA, after working in Belleville for the past 2.5 years.
The organization says it’s looking forward to welcoming customers and shoppers back to the downtown core this summer, in a safe way (with several restaurants planning to extend their patios again in 2021.)

Belleville Downtown District has announced that their executive director Marijo Cuerrier will be moving on in June.
She will be the new executive director of Kingston’s BIA.
“Taking on a new project was a difficult decision both personally and professionally.” says Cuerrier. “There are so many exciting things coming for Downtown Belleville that I was hoping to be a part of. That said, I am confident that the next ED will be fully capable of continuing to drive the vision forward,” she said in a statement.
The perception of Downtown Belleville has really changed under the leadership of Cuerrier and Kelsey Moniz, the media and marketing officer.

If you’ve wandered the Riverfront Trail in downtown Belleville lately, you may have noticed snow and ice sculptures dotting the walkway amidst a blanket of snow. Starting this weekend, once night falls, tealights placed inside the lanterns will transform the Trail into an illuminated and enchanted path – a magical synergy of fire and ice.
The project, dubbed Moira Magic by local artist Jeff Wildgen, is a way to help dispel winter darkness, made a little more shadowy by the latest COVID-19 lockdown.
