Last week, it was announced that they would receive the 2023 Woody Guthrie Prize, an award given out annually “to an artist who best exemplifies Woody Guthrie’s spirit and work by speaking for the less fortunate through music, film, literature, dance or other art forms and serving as a positive force for social change.” Group member Maria “Masha” Alyokhina and creator Nadya Tolokonnikova will be in attendance to accept the award on May 6 at the Woody Guthrie Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
