Puerto Rico is back in the national spotlight after new statehood legislation was introduced Tuesday by Florida Representative Darren Soto and Resident Commissioner Jenniffer González.
Stonewall Jackson Road in east Orlando could soon be renamed. Instead of continuing as the namesake of a Confederate general who fought in defense of slavery, it could honor Roberto Clemente, a Puerto Rican baseball player and humanitarian who died in 1972 in a plane crash while on his way to deliver relief supplies to Nicaragua.
