Members of the National Press Club (NPC) of the Philippines and other government agencies lead in unveiling the bronze bust of Marcelo H. Del Pilar at the NPC building in Intramuros, Manila on Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2023, in celebration of National Press Freedom Day. Del Pilar is widely regarded as the Father of Philippine Journalism, having written 150 essays and 66 editorials, mostly published in La Solidaridad.
An Argentinos Juniors defender broke his left leg on Tuesday during a Copa Libertadores match in Buenos Aires. Luciano Sánchez, 29, suffered the serious injury after a challenge by veteran left-back Marcelo, now playing for Brazil's Fluminense. The former Real Madrid player was sent off in tears as the Argentinian screamed on the pitch, surrounded by concerned players on both teams.
