Dennis Hauger stormed to his first Formula 3 pole position as he beat Jack Doohan at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya by just 0.006s.
After a disappointing first season in F3, Hauger made the switch to Prema from Hitech Grand Prix.
Hauger topped practice and converted that impressive pace into pole in Spain, to take the four additional points that come with it.
Doohan led much of qualifying but was unable to match Hauger’s third and final effort.
A last-ditch effort from Victor Martins moved him up to third for MP Motorsport, 0.061s off Hauger’s pole time.
Matteo Nannini was second after the first runs, but his charge faltered as he dropped to fourth in the lead HWA Racelab.

Juan Manuel Correa said that he was “closer to the pace than I was expecting” after completing his first official Formula 3 testing session at the Red Bull Ring last week.
The Ecuadorian-American driver sustained two broken legs and was put into an induced coma following the tragic crash at Spa-Francorchamps in 2019 that saw fellow F2 driver Anthoine Hubert killed, but vowed to return to racing and will drive for ART Grand Prix in F3 this season.
Correa is still rehabilitating following his injuries and continues to wear a leg brace, but was able to complete 158 laps in total across the two-day test, setting the 18th fastest time.
