Los Angeles County Public Health officials on Monday confirmed 29 new deaths and 1,869 new cases of COVID-19 countywide, including 165 new cases in the Santa Clarita Valley since Friday. The lower number of deaths and cases may reflect reporting delays over the weekend and today’s President’s Day holiday. The SCV has now seen a total of 25,293 COVID-19 cases and 242 deaths since L.A. county’s first confirmed COVID-19 infection on January 26, 2020. To date, Public Health officials have identified 1,168,358 positive cases of COVID-19 across all areas of L.A. County and a total of 19,095 deaths. There are 3,092 people with COVID-19 currently hospitalized and 30% of these people are in the ICU.

Los Angeles County Public Health officials on Wednesday confirmed 256 new deaths and 5,189 new cases of COVID-19 countywide, as Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital in Valencia reported two new deaths. The Santa Clarita Valley has now seen a total of 24,291 total cases 128 more cases since Tuesday and 214 deaths since L.A. county’s first confirmed COVID-19 infection on January 26, 2020. Test results are now available for more than 5,543,000 people, with 19% testing positive. There are 5,165 people hospitalized with COVID-19, and 27% of these patients are in the ICU. To date, Public Health officials have identified 1,129,503 positive cases of COVID-19 and a total of 17,308 deaths countywide.

Los Angeles County Public Health officials on Wednesday confirmed 307 new deaths and 6,917 new cases of confirmed COVID-19 countywide, and Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital in Valencia late Tuesday reported its 113th COVID fatality since the pandemic began. Nine COVID patients have died at Henry Mayo since Friday, bringing the hospital’s total to 40 fatalities so far in January, according to spokesman Patrick Moody. The Santa Clarita Valley has reached a total of 23,396 cases 162 more than Tuesday and 196 deaths since L.A. county’s first confirmed COVID-19 infection on January 26, 2020. Countywide, as of January 22, the seven-day average of daily positive cases was 6,564, down from the peak of more than 15,000 cases on January 8, Public Health officials noted in their Wednesday update.

California Public Health officials lifted the regional Stay at Home Order statewide on Monday as Los Angeles County Public Health officials confirmed 43 new deaths and 6,642 new cases of confirmed COVID-19 countywide, and Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital in Valencia reported five new deaths on Saturday and Monday. After reporting three fatalities Friday, the hospital reported four new deaths Saturday and one additional death Monday, bringing the number of people who have died at Henry Mayo to 39 so far in January, and 112 since the pandemic began, according to spokesman Patrick Moody. The Santa Clarita Valley has reached a total of 23,227 cases 560 more than Friday and 195 deaths since L.A. county’s first confirmed COVID-19 infection one year ago on January 26, 2020.

Los Angeles County Department of Public Health officials on Friday confirmed 256 new deaths and 9,277 new cases of confirmed COVID-19 countywide, as Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital in Valencia reported three new deaths. New cases are considerably lower this week, with a decrease of 30 percent in the seven-day average of daily cases from last week. The test positivity rate has also dropped to 12.7 percent. On Jan. 1, the test positivity rate was 20.8 percent; this is a reduction of 39 percent in three weeks. On Nov. 1, just before our surge began, the County’s test positivity rate was 3.8 percent. While we have come a long way this week with community transmission, we have a long road to go and must continue to practice infectious control measures: wear a face covering and maintain physical distance when out of your home.
