2-year-old boy dies after shooting in western Birmingham

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office on Friday identified the child as Major Turner. He was 2.
The shooting happened shortly before 10 p.m. Thursday in the Kimbrough Homes public housing complex in the Wenonah Community. Sgt. Rod Mauldin said police were notified of a double shooting in the 2900 block of John Bryant Road. They arrived to find the mother and Major wounded.
Police radio traffic indicated the child was struck in the neck and taken to Children’s of Alabama with critical injuries. He was pronounced dead at 2:45 a.m.

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Less than a week is left on the Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign.
The money collected stays local and helps people in the area during Christmas and throughout the year.
14 News caught up with Salvation Army Major Mark Turner on Friday evening. He says they are still short by several thousand dollars, but if someone plans to donate in the near future, their contributions will go twice as far.
