CAMP AGUINALDO, QUEZON CITY, Philippines – Medical experts from the Philippine Air Force (PAF) and United States Pacific Air Forces (PACAF) concluded a three-day virtual Global Health Engagement on Wednesday, as part of the ongoing Balikatan Exercise.
The knowledge exchange and key leader engagement which started on April 12 was held virtually for the first time due to conditions brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The global pandemic may have limited some aspects of the Balikatan Exercise but it will never dampen the spirit of friendship, partnership, and shared aspirations of both the Philippines and United States armed forces,” said Major General Edgard Arevalo, Commander of AFP Education Training and Doctrine Command and Exercise Director of Balikatan 2021.
"Atin pong binubuhay ‘yung sinasabi nating rock solid na alliance between these two armed forces at talagang maipakita natin ‘yung ating interoperability kahit sa ngayon ay planning ang ating magagawa and simulation ng execution,” Arevalo said in an interview with Super Radyo dzBB.

Interviewed on Super Radyo dzBB on Wednesday, Arevalo said AFP chief General Cirilito Sobejana ordered the augmentation of its assets in the disputed territory. “Tatlo pa dyan sa West Philippine Sea…for operational security. The Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs said that two protests had been lodged, days after Manila summoned Chinese Ambassador Huang Xilian to press for the withdrawal of its vessels on the disputed Whitsun Reef in the South China Sea and other Philippine maritime zones.
