are going to take trump seriously enough to demand that kind of response. what they must do at some point is address when big things come up. when he says something racist they have to respond. when he says something that s false, they have to respond. they can t ignore him. if they do hillary clinton going to be gaining ground and a whole bunch of republican candidates are going to be left behind. whether you are a believer in trump of sanders or neither or both however don t you think it tells us something important about what the people want and and perhaps more than ever they re demanding something they re not getting from their mainstream politicians? i think if there s anything here to take away from this and this is what i said to a couple of campaigns i talked to this week. you ve got to pay attention, not so much to what trump or sanders is saying but fact they are saying things in a blunt and bold way. i think this is a take away. that the candidates are the
howard fineman, who can handle anything, has to handle this one. director of the huffington post and david corn is the washington bureau chief with mother jones. gentlemen, two of my favorites. i don t know where to start, except there are parts of this country represented well by the way by louie gohmert. and by the way, we re going get to the fact that there are actually some surprising hero downs there who actually say this is crazy. well, it seems like governor abbott, louie gohmert and ted cruz are turning the lone star state into the loon star state by going ahead and basically this stuff percolates on the conspiratorial right, which sometimes when did you hear of it first, that there was going to be awes army invasion which is actually an exercise. alex jones who is a 9/11 truther and believed in fema concentration camps and goes after the bilderbergs. and had ron paul on his show. and ron paul over and over again was really pushing this hard. and then it kind of jum
violent event like we had with waco. and as someone who trains state and federal agent, they did the right thing. we have an isolated and contained situation. but i think what we have here today, unlike in the past, we now have the internet and we now have an echo chamber consistenting of mainstream politicians as well as journalists really fuelling the fire here. we now have a moment that s much more sophisticated with their information and technology exchange. i worry even though we don t have a violent catalystic event, we do have a very active militia movement in the united states with over 1,000 active patriot groups who, by the way, many are legal, and many are exercising their political right, as well as about 240 militias. and many of them are relatively harmless. but the fact is in a
it s nearly doubled in germany and the any they anetherlands. nearly tripled in denmark. most come from more cultures that are distant and different. societies can only take so much change in a generation. if mainstream politicians do not recognize these realities and insist that those who speak of them are racists, they will only push the public in its desperation to em grace the real racists, of which there are many. for more go to cnn.com/fareed and read my washington post column this week. let s get started. and now for the shouldown. those who thought that disfunction in america couldn t get any worse have been proven wrong once again. the united states government has now been shut down for little more than 34 hours and each side
conflict with north korea, what could be the ramifications of saying something like that? right, so joy, this is the kind of trump effect we re all facing. trump is describing a pretty obvious reality that nobody would dispute, which is as north korea continues to development weapons and missiles that may destroy the united states. at some point if we can t change that behavior we may be in a conflict with them at the point they may be able to threaten us with a nuclear weapon. a wide array of mainstream politicians would say we really need to work with the conflict. it s not the way the president normally communicates about this issue. it raises the temperature, is he talking about the long-term or the nearer term, something more rash that the foreign policy community would not council. you just don t know wh it comes to trump and it does introduce a great deal of
