PANAJI: The state government’s failure to rectify the erratic supply of oxygen at Goa Medical College saw around 15 more Covid-19 patients dying in the “dark hours” of Thursday. The deaths, which occurred between 2am and 6am, coincided with a two hour long phase where oxygen pressure in GMC’s central line plummeted.
The crisis unfolded around 1:25 am when relatives began making SOS calls saying that oxygen levels were dropping at GMC. The reports were confirmed at 2.10 am when it was established that wards 145, 144, 146, 143, 149 GMC had an oxygen shortage. A doctor at ward 147 said only three cylinders were left. Panaji, May 13 : The Goa state administration is expected to overcome logistical hurdles to ensure that lives are not lost due to oxygen shortage, the Bombay High Court on Thursday said. The HC bench in Goa also directed the central government to ensure that the allotted quota is made available to the state at the earliest .
The Court, which is hearing a bunch of petitions which have alleged mismanagement in the state government efforts to tackle the pandemic, also said that its primary responsibility was to save lives at the moment.

Panaji, May 12 : The Bombay High Court s Panaji bench on Wednesday said that oxygen paucity in the state s apex health facility was grim and directed top government officials that no death should occur at least on Wednesday night due to lack of oxygen.
The court, which is hearing a bunch of petitions which have alleged mismanagement in the state government efforts to tackle the pandemic, also said that its primary responsibility was to save lives at the moment.

The Bombay High Court s Goa bench on Tuesday ordered that no person will be allowed to enter the coastal state without a negative COVID-19 test report, except in cases of medical emergency. The court slammed the administration for not implementing its earlier interim order fully and instead carving out an exception for local residents.
Following the court s May 6 directive, administration of North Goa and South Goa districts issued orders last week making it mandatory for visitors to carry negative COVID-19 test reports while arriving.
But a bench of Justices Nitin Sambre and Mahesh Sonak, hearing a PIL on coronavirus situation, pointed out that the order applied to every person arriving in Goa, whether a visitor or local resident.
