Amit Shah GUWAHATI: Union home minister Amit Shah, who will visit the state on December 26, will launch the renovation work of the 15th century Batadrava Than in Nagaon district, the first prayer hall built by Vaishnavite saint Srimanta Sankardev, and lay the foundation for the construction of the northeast’s biggest medical college and hospital here. Shah will also launch the construction work for 10 law colleges in the state from the same venue at Amingaon on the north of Guwahati. The saint, who brought together the numerous communities and tribes of Assam, had established the ‘kirtanghar’ at Batadrava in 1468. The complex, called as Sri Sri Batadrava Than, was completed in 1509.
